A significant part has now been transferred

So it’s taken several long days and a lot of hacking around with WordPress but I’ve finally managed to persuade WordPress to work the way I like doing things, and have now moved a significant portion of the original content over. Funny how when you are copying and pasting you notice mistakes and before you know it you’ve spend half a day down the rabbit hole redoing things.

Anyway, there is still a lot to transfer but I’m in my stride now and it’s really just a cut and paste exercise. It will be nice to be in a position where I can just quickly create new content without having to start thinking that I’ve still got to move the site from the old provider.

I do have a second site, 8870Adventures that also needs to be moved but I don’t think that will be as big a challenge as it’s not as big as HobbyElectronics and I know what I’m doing now… well, I think I do.

The one thing I can’t figure out is how to have images that expand when you click on them. My previous web tool has a lovely thingy that supported this. It also had a nice gallery thingy that was rather sexy. I’m sure there’s a plugin or something for WordPress but I didn’t see anything after a brief search.

You do have to be carful with what plugins you use with WordPress. Many say they haven’t been tested with the latest version and obviously haven’t been maintained for several years. It’s probably only a matter of time before they stop working. So I’ve kept my plug in use to an absolute minimum and I’m hoping to keep it that way.
